Aston Villa climb out of the Relegation Zone

Trezeguet scoring the only goal of the match

Going into the penultimate game, Aston Villa knew they have to win somehow against Arsenal if they were to survive relegation and avoid the drop straight back. They faced Arsenal, who were riding high on Momentum after beating Premier League Champions Liverpool and FA Cup Holders Manchester City in the Semi Final to advance through the final.

Throughout the season Aston Villa had struggled to get points, sometimes they were lucky to come away with a point( That Draw against Sheffield during restart) and sometimes unlucky (That 1-1 drew against Everton where they conceded late). The Villians knew they had to win. What happened next against Arsenal? They Won. They Beat Arsenal 1-0 on Tuesday thanks to a goal from Trezeguet in the 27th minute and held on to that Result.

This win means they climbed up to 17th ahead of Watford on Goal Difference who had lost 4-0 earlier to Manchester City. When the teams came out Watford knew all they have to avoid is a high margin defeat and they failed in doing so. With their 4-0 lose the goal difference between Villa and Them got same and then later Villa won to have a -26 GD to Watford's -27 GD with 34 points each.

Survival is not yet achieved as both teams head into the final Matchday on Sunday knowing that they might need help from others if they were to survive.Watford travel to Arsenal and Villa head to London to Face West Ham United. There can be chance where both teams finish with the same points and same Goal Difference. That is an unlikely scenario but if that happens, we might get to see a Relegation Decider on Neutral ground on a separate day.
