India's COVID-19 tally touched 6,48,315 with the biggest single-day increase of 22,771 cases, the latest data from the Union Health Ministry shows. The country also witnessed 442 deaths during the period, taking the total number of death count to 18,655. With a steady rise, the number of recoveries stands at 3,94,226 and one patient has migrated. There are 2,35,433 active cases of coronavirus presently in the country at present. The centre said that the recovery rate has further improved to 60.80 per cent. 
Maharashtra continues to remain the worst-hit state with over 1,92,990 infections. The death count due to the pandemic rose to 8,376 after 198 new deaths reported on Friday, a health department statement said.
Mumbai's COVID-19 tally rose to 80,262 with the addition of 1,554 new cases, while 57 fresh deaths took the toll to 4,686. While the tally of COVID-19 cases crossed the 80,000-mark, the number of recovered patients topped 50,000.
Mira Bhayander saw a record 276 new cases in a single day the single highest day spike.The Total Number of cases rose to 3,885 and the death toll reached 152.On Friday 170 people recovered taking the tally to 2,818 and the recovery rate to 65 per cent. The Active number of cases in this township is 915 now.
