Kanpur shootout incident has ties with Maharashtra. Mumbai's ATS arrested Arvind alias Guddan Trivedi, a special accomplice of Vikas Dubey, the main accused in the murder of 8 policemen, who was absconding since the incident.
Guddan Trivedi was one of those involved in The list of 21 operatives of Dubey gang created by UP Police. A reward of ₹ 50000 had been declared to catch hold of him. In police interrogation, he confessed to have been involved in the murder of Minister of State, Santosh Shukla in 2001 at Chaubepur police station.

Special Investigation By Mumbai's ATS
Mumbai ATS encounter specialist Daya Nayak had received a secret information that Gudan Trivedi, the accused in the Kanpur shootout incident, and his driver Sushil Kumar alias Sonu Tiwari are stationed at a hideout at Kolshet Road. Under the guidance of Maharashtra ATS chief Deven Bharti, Special Inspector General of Police Jayant Naik Navre, Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikram Deshmane and Vinay Kumar Rathore, an encounter specialist team of Daya Nayak arrested Trivedi and his driver Tiwari, raiding the whereabouts of the hideout at Thane.
After interrogation it was revealed that Guddan and Tiwari had reached Thane through Truck and had been staying at their village relative's place by threatening them. Police is currently Investigating their statement.
Guddan confessed that he and his Driver had absconded in a car on 2nd July after the Kanpur Case. Both of them left the car at Datiya in Madhya Pradesh from where they got into a truck to reach Pune. They got into another truck from Pune and finally took shelter into a hideout at Thane.
