Over 268 mm Rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours in Mumbai

                                         
Many low lying areas saw water-logging

Mumbai and it's suburbs saw this season most intense shower recording over 268 mm in just 24 hours. The was the most rainfall the city had received in Mumbai in the last three years of the month August. 

The weather bureau has extended the red alert and isolated places in Mumbai can receive "extremely heavy rainfall" for the next 2 days. The rain density is likely to decrease from Thursday Evening.

The suburbs in South Mumbai received high intensity rain spells with high speed winds and thunders. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)  The speed of the wind was around 40-51 kmph.

Many areas have seen waterlogged and some residents have complained about power cut for 10-12 hours. Municipal Commissioner has issued a warning to not to step out of the your home unless there is an extreme emergency.
