3 Scientists Win Nobel Prize in Discovery of Hepatitis C

 


On Monday, Thomas Perlmann the head of Nobel Community announced a trio of Scientists, two Americans Harvey J. Alter and Charles M Rice alongside British scientist Michael Houghton as Nobel Prize winners in the field of medicine for the discovery of Hepatitis C.

According to a report by World Health Organisation (WHO), there are over 70 million cases of Hepatitis every year and 400,000 deaths worldwide each year. A major cause for Liver Inflammation and Cancer is Hepatitis.

This major honour not only comes with a gold medal and a trophy but also a prize sum of around 10 Million Swedish Kronor which is around $1,118,000.
