Mumbai Indians beat Kings XI Punjab by 48 Runs

 

Match 13 of the Dream11 IPL saw Mumbai Indians beat Kings XI Punjab by 48 runs to go top of the table once again. Punjab Skipper KL Rahul had won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Mumbai Indians came into the match with a lose after losing in the Super Over to Royal Challengers Bangalore whereas Punjab had lost to Rajasthan Royals despite scoring 223.

MI didn't have a great start as they lost Quinton De Kock for a duck at the 5th ball of the first over. They soon even lost SuryaKumar Yadav through a direct hit run-out as they slummed to 21/2. Rohit was then joined by Ishan Kishan who had almost won the game for joined the Mumbai Skipper in the middle.

A 62 run partnership took the score to 83 before Kishan went back to Pavilion.At the start of 17th over, MI lost inform Rohit Sharma at the score of 70 as the scoreboard displayed 124/4. Then the matter were taken in the hands by Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya.

The duo added 67 runs of 23 balls as Mumbai Indians finished with a score of 191/4. Pollard scored an unbeaten 47 off 20 balls(3 fours and 4 sixes) whereas Pandya finished with 30 off 11 balls(3 fours and 2 sixes).

Kings XI Punjab strength was their batting with both Openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agrawal inform. This time though it looked like Punjab are over dependent on both of them as they both failed to add runs.

Wickets kept on falling on regular intervals as Punjab finished with a score of 143/8 in 20 overs. The only batsman to score more than 30 runs was Nicolas Purran as he scored a respectable 44 off 27 balls. Overall it was the batting failure that lead to Punjab's downfall in this match as they suffered a 3rd defeat in 4 matches this season.
