Saturday Football Roundup

This weekend was the last action of club football before the international break began. There were less fixtures on Saturday but the level of excitement and entertainment was same as ever.

In the Premier League, Everton made it 4 wins out of 4 under Carlo Ancelotti as they hammered Brighton 4-2 at Goodison Park. Dominic Calwart Lewin kept his good form going as he scored again.Neal Maupay levelled the score only for Yerry Mina to head Everton ahead again in first half stoppage time.

The person who is enjoying his time most at Everton is James Rodriguez. The Forgetten Colombian once a star at Real Madrid, had another great game as he scored a brace. He now has 3 goals and 2 assists in his first 4 games. Not bad for a start.

Saturday also marked the meeting of two great managers at Elland Road when Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United hosted Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

City started off strong again and took the lead in the 17th minute through Raheem Sterling. But once again they failed to protect the lead. They tried to add on more but just couldn't find any other way to break the Leeds Defence. Leeds got a well deserved draw after record signing Rodrigo equalised in the 59th minute. In the end Leeds finished the game with 52.1% possession, higher than City showing that the draw was no mere fluke and they were ready for it.

In the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund bounced back after 2 back to back defeats as they thrashed Freiburg 4-0. Erling Haaland scored a brace with an assist. The man of the match was however Midfielder Giovanni Reyna who assisted 3 goals. Dortmund's young side looks to have the firepower to finally stop Bayern's March to a 9th Consecutive German Title.
