Wild Protests in Maharashtra to reopen Temples

Protests outside SiddhiVinayak Temple

There has been a wild protest across the state of Maharashtra and in the city of Mumbai as Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) workers started protesting outside the SiddhiVinayak Temple in Dadar to make the government to reopen Temples.

All religious workplaces in Maharashtra have been in lockdown since the outbreak of Covid-19. Despite several ease on lockdown restrictions, the government of Maharashtra is yet to allow the reopening of religious places.

BJP leader Pravin Darekar led the protest from the middle in the midst of Covid-19. The protestors also tried to forcibly enter the temple despite police deployment and barricading.

Protests were also seen outside the Shirdi Sai Baba temple in Shirdi. BJP leader Prasad Lad told to ANI that "We are demanding that we should be allowed to enter the SiddhiVinayak Temple. If they don't give us the entry, then we will force our way into the temple. This is a pan-Maharashta movement as we want that all temples in the state should be reopened as soon as possible".

Earlier Cheif Minister Udhaav Thackeray has responded to Maharashtra's Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari who had written earlier to the CM on this matter of reopening temples.
