Bombay High Court: Kangana Ranaut's Bunglow Demolished for "Malice"; Will Get Dues For Her Damages

It was a big win for Actress Kangana Ranaut on Friday when the Bombay High Court ruled in her favour in the case in which her office and Bunglow was demolished by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Officials. The Court have said that the action taken by the Civic body was "nothing but Malice in law" and she will be compensated for her damages.

The BMC had demolished her property located at  Mumbai's Pali Hill on September 9,2020. She had alleged that the action taken by BMC was because of her comments against the ruling Maharashtra Government, Shiv Sena.

Division Bench of Justice SJ Kathawalla and Justice RI Chagla said "MCGM(Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai) has proceeded on wrongful grounds against the rights of the citizens. It is nothing but Malice in law." The Court has also said that it does not approve of Authorities using "Muscle Power" against any citizen.

"The Manner in which the action was carried out leaves no doubt that not using S.354 was more sinister and preventing her from taking a recourse" said the High Court.
