Tamil Nadu allows 100% occupancy in Theatres

On Monday, the Tamil Nadu Government made a huge decision in the state to allow theatres to open up to full 100% capacity. The decision comes after Actor Vijay and Silambarasan requested the cinema Hall's to open up at full capacity as their movies are scheduled to release during and after pongal celebrations.

Actor Vijay, popularly referred by fans and media as "Thalapathy" had personally met the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu E.K Palaniswami last week to request for relaxation in existing restrictions. Vijay's latest film Master and Silambarasan's Eeswaran are expected to release within the Pongal Holidays.

An order issued by the government read "The sitting capacity of Cinema/Theatres/Multiplexes shall be permitted to increase some existing 0% to 100% by following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) issued already. Further, in order to create awareness among the spectators, the precautionary methods for Covid-19 shall also be screened during the show time."

This decision has seen mixed reaction from fans and critics. Though the surge of COVID-19 has seen a decrease in India,it is not over yet and it still exists. People took to Twitter to discuss their views in this decision.
