Emotions run high as Edge wins the Royal Rumble

There is a saying every cloud has a silver lining. After failures and setbacks, there is also success. Such was the story of the WWE Hall of Famer and Rated R Superstar,Edge. The 11 time World Champion had to retire in 2011 after a triple fusion neck surgery and had to give up on his dream.

Fast Forward to 2020, Edge shocked the world when he returned at the 2020 Royal Rumble at number 21. It was like seeing an old hero return to the battlefield. Though he ended up short that year, he would go on to renew his rivarly with Randy Orton as they duo battled at WrestleMania 36 and Backlash.

After nearly 7 months,on last week's edition of  Monday Night Raw, Edge announced that he would be entering the Rumble this year again and would do one better than last year.

Yesterday at WWE Backstage it was announced that he would enter at Number 1 along with Randy Orton at Number 2. Ever since 2006, no participants had won the rumble from the starting two positions.

After battling hard over 58 minutes, the final two was down would come to Orton and Edge. This was the first time since 1999(Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mr McMahon) that the first two participants were the last two remaining. After suffering an RKO, Edge would somehow manage to survive and eliminate Orton to win the Royal Rumble. He would become the third superstar to win the rumble from number 1 after Shawn Michaels in 1995 and Chris Benoit in 2004. What interesting was that On this Day in 2010, Edge had won his first Rumble. He now joins the elite list of Triple H,John Cena,Randy Orton, Batista, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin to win atleast 2 rumbles( Austin has won 3).

In other Matches Drew McIntyre Defeated Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg to retain the WWE Championship as Roman Reigns also retained his Universal Championship against Kevin Owens in a last man standing match. Sasha Banks retained the Smackdown Women's Championship against Carmella and Nia Jax and Shayna Baszlez won the women Tag Team Championship against Charlotte Flair and Asuka.

Meanwhile Bianca Belair won the Women's Royal Rumble by last eliminating Rhea Ripley. She entered at Number 3 and lasted 56 minutes and 52 seconds to win the Rumble with 4 eliminations.
