Maharashtra sees spike in COVID-19 cases

 

After a steady decline in the number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, there has been a slight increase yesterday with around more than 4,000 cases being reported for the first time in nearly 39 days. Mumbai also say the spike of more than 600 cases for the first time in exactly a month's time.

For the past 4-5 days there has been a upward movement in the cases graph and health experts have made a statement that administration will have to work hard and increase the tracing and testing. They have also asked the people to follow the proper COVID-19 guidelines. The resumption of local trains for all public in Mumbai has also made some impact in this matter according to the Experts.

On Sunday, Maharashtra recorded 4,092 new cases taking the total tally to 20,64,278 cases. This was the first time since January 6th, that the state had recorded over 4000 cases. Meanwhile Mumbai recorded 645 fresh new cases. The last time Mumbai recorded over 600 cases was on 14th January.

A senior expert of the state health panel has said that the resumption of normal activities,local train and the fatigue by people of wearing masks and Sanitizing is a key reason for the spike.

They have said that vaccination drive is going at a slow rate in Maharashtra. People over 50 years with co-morbidities will get the vaccine from next month and have urged the people to be careful till that time.
