12 Hour Night Curfew in Pune from April 3; religious places, malls, restaurants shut for 7 days

 

Amid the rising COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, the Pune District have revised the night curfew timings from earlier 8pm-7am to a 12 hour night curfew from 6pm-6am starting from Saturday April 3.

This decision was taken in a review meeting chaired by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Pune Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao said that all Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Cinema Halls, Shopping Malls, Religious Places will remain closed for the next seven days (till April 9). However home deliveries of food, medicines and essential services will be allowed.

Buses of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), which is the city's public transport system, will remain off roads for the next seven days. Rao also added that schools and colleges will remain shut till April 30.

Pune district is one of the highest contributors in Maharashtra regarding the COVID-19 cases. The City yesterday added 8,011 new cases which pushed it cumulative count to 5,42,422. Meanwhile Mumbai added 8,646 new cases, it's highest single day spike so far. 

Maharashtra Chief Minister Udhaav Thackeray will address the state at 8:30 pm today, according to Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar. He is also said to chair a high level meeting with Officals today.
