BMC suspends Walk-In Vaccination facility in Mumbai

On Friday the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) suspended the walk-in facility for COVID-19 Vaccination in Mumbai following huge chaos observed outside few vaccination centres in Tuesday and Wednesday.

Every person wishing to get vaccinated will be now required to get an appointment on the Co-Win portal. 

However Citizens above the age of 45, healthcare and frontline workers, due for the second dose of Covaxin, will be exempted from this if they provide the verification of the first dose through soft or hard copy.

  • A circular issued by Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal read "Covid-19 vaccination centre are getting overcrowded and it becomes difficult to maintain social distancing and Covid-19 appropriate behavior. Therefore, it is hereby directed that all citizens who wish to get vaccinated against Covid-19 shall in advance register themselves on the Co-Win portal and also book the appointment slot at the vaccination centre of their choice on the same portal before proceeding to the vaccination centre."

The Civic body has also said upon starting drive-in centre at all 7 zones soon.
