COVID-19 Vaccination suspended in Mumbai till May 17 over Cyclone Tauktae alert

On Friday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced the suspension of COVID-19 vaccination drive in Mumbai till May 17 in the view of the warning about Cyclone Tauktae.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani said to the Press Trust of India (PTI) that this decision is taken as a precautionary measure as Cyclone Tauktae is forecasted to pass by the city and bring heavy rains.

He added that the decision was also taken to avoid trouble for senior citizens and possibly overcrowding.

The IMD has informed that Cyclone Tauktae is likely to pass Mumbai via sea route, but won't hit the city directly and will bring strong winds and rainfall on Sunday.
