Imported Sputnik V rolled out at Rs 995; Made in India shots to be cheaper

In an attempt to speed up the Vaccination drive, Pharma Major Dr Reddy's Laboratories, the Indian partner of Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), launched the Russian Covid-19 Vaccine, Sputnik V (imported doses) in the domestic market at a price of Rs 948 per dose with an additional 5% GST to be charged on it, taking the price up to Rs 995.

It is now the third vaccine, after Covishield and Covaxin, that will be administered to citizens. The prices are said to go down after the local supply of vaccines begins. 

  • "As a part of limited pilot, the soft launch of the vaccine has commenced and the first dose of the vaccine was administered in Hyderabad today. The imported doses of the vaccines are presently priced at an MRP Rs 948 + 5% GST per dose, with the possibility of a lower price point when local supply begins" said the company in a press release.

According to the company, the first consignment of doses had landed on May 1,2021 but recieved regulatory clearance from the Central Drugs Laboratory on May 13,2021.
