Lockdown extended in Delhi till May 31; positivity rate down to 2.5 per cent

The ongoing lockdown in Delhi has been extended again by yet another week. The lockdown which was placed a month ago has now been extended till 5 am on May 31.

"We didn't knew how long this wave could have lasted. But within a month, the people of Delhi cooperated. Delhi fought the virus like a family even when there was an oxygen emergency. Now there is an acute vaccine shortage but I believe we will find a solution to this too. Now the wave is weakening visibly" said CM Arvind Kejriwal.

"We haven't won yet but we may be taking control of the wave. In 24 hours, the positivity rate is below 2.5 per cent. At one point we were reporting 28,000 cases daily. Now in 24 hours we have reported 1,600 cases" added Kejriwal.

According to the Health Ministry the national capital recorded 1,649 new cases of COVID-19, the lowest since March 30.
