Didn't went to meet Nawaz Sharif: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on the met with PM Narendra Modi

On Tuesday Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray met Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a meeting in Delhi. In the meeting he was followed by Deputy CM of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar and Congress Leader Ashok Chavan.

In the meeting, the ministers from Maharashtra discussed several key issues with PM Modi including Maratha and OBC reservation and GST compensation. Thackeray would later label this meeting as a "Cordial Discussion".

"I met PM Narendra Modi today. Some important issues of the state were discussed. We hope that the Prime Minister will consider the issues we put forth. We have faith that the PM will consider our issues" said Udhaav Thackeray after the meeting.

Addressing the media outside Maharashtra Sadan, PWD (Public Works Department) Minister and Congress Leader Ashok Chavan said "We requested the PM to intervene to remove the 50 per cent cap on the reservation. We requested the PM to press for it in the court. The 50 per cent cap is affecting various reservations including OBC reservation in elections."

They also requested PM Modi for the release of GST (Goods and Service Tax) compensation dues of Rs 24,306 Crore.

  1. Even after 74 years of independence India is still divided on reservation for castes & communities. It's high time 50:50 reservation should be based only on economic criteria. So that there is equality and justice for all under reservation.
