NCB officials arrest Nigerian National and bust drug syndicate in Mumbai

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) have arrested a Nigerian National in Mumbai who was reported to be a part of an international drug syndicate which supplied Cocaine in the city and nearby areas.

According to NCB officials, the drug supply network was being run through a call centre which was operated from Nigeria. The consumer had to make a call on a particular number of the call centre in Nigeria. Following the payment, the delivery was made to the consumer's address by the drug peddlers working for the syndicate in Mumbai.

After receiving a tip-off regarding this syndicate, NCB Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede formed a team and sent a decoy, posing as a consumer and booked a delivery of Cocaine in Nallasopara.

NCB officials then nabbed a peddler working for the syndicate who later confessed during the interrogation of delivering drugs to consumers as per instructions received from the Nigeria based drug network.

The officials also added that the drug was sourced from South American countries like Peru, Brazil and Chile. Investigation regarding identification of other members of this syndicate is underway.
