17 fresh FIRs registered against BJP's 'Jan Ashirwad Yatra' in Mumbai; Total FIRs upto 36

On Saturday, the Mumbai Police registered 17 new FIRs against Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders and workers for allegedly violating COVID-19 protocols during the 'Jan Ashirwad Yatra' of new Union Minister Narayan Rane in different parts of Mumbai.

The Maharashtra Government today filed 17 new FIRs against BJP's rally. Till Friday, 19 separate FIRs in separate police stations in Mumbai were filed against them for the same reason. The total number of FIRs against them has now risen to 36.

Narayan Rane on Thursday began his 'Jan Ashirwad Yatra' despite the restrictions by Mumbai Police. Many Opposition leaders also objected to this Yatra due to the ongoing pandemic in the state.

On Friday, Congress leaders Ashok Chavan and Bhai Jagtap slammed the BJP for ignoring the COVID situation in the state and holding the rally. Earlier this week Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut criticized the saffron party and claimed that the 'Jan Ashirwad Yatra' being carried out by various Union Ministers in various states was "an invitation for a third wave of COVID-19".

Narayan Rane on Friday himself condemned the Maharashtra Government for it's failure to control and tackle the pandemic situation in the state and said he would continue his rally despite FIRs fired against his rally.
