NCB seizes drugs worth Rs 1 Crore in raids in Mumbai

As per official reports, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday raided areas in Vasai and Nalasopara, and seized a 505 grams of Mephedrone drugs. The agency arrested an accused identified as Mohammed Yakub Shaikh, a resident of JJ Marg Road, who had brought these drugs from a Nigerian citizen and was supposed to supply it in Mumbai.

  • The NCB team carried out a raid near a national highway in Vasai East and seized around 205 grams of Mephedrone and arrested him. Later on, another raid was carried out at Nalasopara where additional 300 grams of Mephedrone was seized.

The drugs seized are worth Rs 1 Crore. "Prima facie the Nigerian is manufacturing synthetic drugs from a kitchen factory in suburbs and selling them to peddlers" said an official.

Further investigation is underway.
