India and 7 other nations adopt the Delhi Declaration to form open govt in Afghanistan for security and stability

On Wednesday, representatives of India and seven other nations participated in the Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan in Delhi and adopted the Delhi Declaration.

The Declaration underlined the necessity of forming an open and truly inclusive government in Kabul that represents the will and representation of all sections of Afghanistan.

  • The meeting was attended by National Security Advisers or Secretaries of the Security Council of five central Asian countries - Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan besides Russia and Iran. The meeting was chaired by NSA Ajit Doval.

The participants expressed their deep concerns over the suffering of the people in Afghanistan arising from the security situation in the nation and condemned the terrorist attacks in Kandahar, Kabul and Kunduz.

The participants also reiterated their strong support for a peaceful, stable and safe Afghanistan. 

The Declaration also stated that the Afghan territory should not be used for sheltering, training or financing any terrorist act.
