UP Businessman Piyush Jain arrested after cash recovery of Rs 284 Crore

On Sunday, the sleuths of Ahmedabad's Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) finally arrested Kanpur-based perfume trader Piyush Jain after recovering an enormous sum of Rs 284 Crore from his residences in Kanpur and Kannauj.

According to DGGI sources, the searches which started on Friday, unearthed Rs 177 Crore from Jain's Anandnagar house in Kanpur and Rs 107 Crore unaccounted cash from his Kannauj home.

He has been arrested on the charges of tax evasion and is booked under Section 69 of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Act.
