India extends ban on International flights till Feb 28

Amid rising concerns regarding the third wave of COVID-19 driven by the Omicron variant, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday extended the ban on commercial international flights till February 28.

In November 2021, the Centre had decided to resume scheduled International flights from December 15. However with the emergence of the Omicron variant the plan was withdrawn.

Meanwhile flights under air bubble pacts will continue to operate as per usual.

Scheduled International flights have been suspended in India since March 23, 2020, two days before a nationwide lockdown was imposed in the country. The suspension of flights have been extended every month except for flights under air bubble pacts.
