On Sunday, Oscar winning actor William Hurt passed away at the age of 71 due to natural causes, surrounded by his family at his home in Portland, Oregon.
"It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday," the family statement read.
Hurt, who had a long career, was known for his roles in films such as "Broadcast News", "The Big Chill" and "Body Heat".
He was nominated four times for an Academy Award, winning it for his role in "Kiss of the Spider Woman" in 1985. His other Oscar nominations were "Children of a Lesser God" (1986), "Broadcast News" (1987) and "A History of Violence" (2005).
Hurt played the role of General Thaddeus Ross in "The Incredible Hulk" (2008), a recurring role that he reprised in other MCU movies such as Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019) and Black Widow (2021).
