On Sunday, the Gujarat Police arrested Teesta Setalvad in connection with a case on her NGO which gave baseless information about the 2002 Gujarat riots to the police.
She was detained by the Gujarat Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) in Mumbai on Saturday and was taken to Ahmedabad later in the night.
The Gujarat Police will produce her before a court in the afternoon and will seek a 14-day custody as she is not cooperating in the investigation.
Earlier the Supreme Court had dismissed an appeal by Zakia Jafri in a plea challenging SIT's clean chit given to then state Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Zakia is the widow of former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri who was killed in the riots.
Further details awaited.
