Cancer Causes Royal Bengal Tiger's Death At Sanjay Gandhi National Park

Anand, a 10 year old Royal Bengal tiger died of Cancer at Sanjay Gandhi National Park on Thursday. It had been diagnosed with the disease 10 months ago. A statement issued by the national park said that he had lost a lot of weight since March 2020 and had suffered renal failure. His treatment was monitored by Senior doctors.
Range forest officer P. Barabde said that Anand's mother Basanti is still alive.
Barabde also said,"His medical tests had indicated high creatinine levels and there was a growth in his Jaws. We had conducted a biopsy but chemotherapy could not be administered as his creatinine levels were high, even a surgery wasn't possible".
Anand died at 5 a.m. and he was cremated as per protocol. The Sanjay Gandhi National Park has one tiger and four tigress. Barabde said that sparks administration is looking to bring more tigers from Zoos in accordance with Central Zoo Authority of India's guidelines.
