| Carter Road had been maintained by the Residents from 2002 |
One of the most famous streets in the city of Mumbai, The Iconic Carter Road will now be maintained by the Maritime Board, 18 years after been maintained by the Residents Group.
After nearly 2 decades of maintaining the promenade, the residents group have handed it over to the Maharashtra Maritime Board( MMB) which owns the land as the contract expires on June 30.
The Bandra West Resident's Association (BWRA) which was chaired by environmentalist ,the late Darryl D' Monte and trustee Roshan Dhobiwala was a complete citizens intiative right from it's inceptions in 2002 till last month.
The High Maintenance Cost involved and little support from the authorities led to BWRA to make this decision. Since 1st July,2020 they have withdrawn security guards, gardeners, sweepers etc.No Lights have been switched on and even the BMC water meters have been surrendered.
