Distribution Of Free Cylinders Under Ujjwala Yojana Will Be Continued


Several important decisions were taken in the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. In the meeting, the decisions related to EPF Ujjwala Scheme, Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Yojana and Housing Scheme for Migrant Workers were approved.
After the meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said that with the extension of the Gareeb Kalyan Ann Yojana till November, the government will give 3 months more contribution from the Provident Fund of employees and owners of companies with less than 100 employees.
  • The Cabinet has decided to extend the Free Cylinder distribution under Ujjwala Yojana till September 2020. 7 crore 40 lakh poor and needy women will be given 3 free fuel cylinders.
  • Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Yojana has also been extended till November 2020. For next 5 months, free grains and dal (lentils) will be provided for free.
  • The Union Cabinet Ministers have extended the share payment of 12-12% of the salary of less than 15000 paid employees and company owners in the contribution of the Employees Provident Fund EPF under the Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Yojana and Aatmnirbhar Bharat Yojana from June to August 2020. This means that for the next three months Govt. will accumulate 24% EPF. Javdekar has said that this decision will lead to an expense of ₹4860 crore on the Govt.
