Myth About Ancient Shiva Temple of Shiva Khodi.


Shiv Khodi is a natural cave in the Shivalik mountain range, which has a nature-built Shiva-linga.
According to research done by Senior Journalist Mr. K.M Srivastava, it is said that those who have visited this holy place have never been able to return back. The research is ongoing. This pilgrimage site has many Mysteries and Myths too.

A huge fair is organized on the day of Maha Shivaratri at the Shiva Khodi pilgrimage site, in which thousands of people come from far and wide to pay their respects and participate in this fair. The Shiva Khodi Yatra(Journey) lasts for twelve months. Many remains of ancient temples are still scattered in this area. Shiva Khodi is a great pilgrimage site for Shiva devotees.

There are two chambers in this cave. The outer chamber is somewhat larger, but the inner chamber is smaller. The path from the outer chamber to the inner chamber is somewhat tight and of low height from where it has to bend. Later, this route gets divided into two parts, one of which is believed to be Kashmir. This path has now been closed. The second path leads to the cave, where there is a statue of Swayambhu Shiva. On the roof of the cave is a sculptural painting, from where milk-laden water drips on the Shivling.

A place called Ransu is located about one hundred kilometers from Jammu . To get here one gets bus from Jammu. Shiva Khodi is six kilometers from Ransu.
