The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Friday told the Bombay High Court that the Maharashtra Government has no power to cancel the final year exams. It further said that the state government's decision to cancel the final year exam will directly affect the standards of higher education in India.
On July 6, the UGC issued some guidelines and decided not to recommend the cancellation of final year exam for graduating batches and has advised institutions to conduct exams by the end of September. They said these exams can be conducted in online, offline or blended mode.
In support of it's decision, the UGC said that it had not made any distinctions between professional and non professional courses.
Many students and parents have opposed this decision and have submitted online plea directly to PM Shri Narendra Modi and his team and have asked for his help regarding this matter.
