After Singer Bhoomi Trivedi complained about fake insta account with her name being used to cheat,Mumbai police uncover a huge scam in which websites sell real and fake followers to some accounts.
Mumbai police have discovered a big international racket which made fake accounts and sold fake followers and genuine likes to some accounts for money.
The police have now summoned 18 celebrities, including famous choreographers,film directors and models who had used this service to boost their social media accounts.
Mumbai police started to take action when Singer Bhoomi Trivedi complained when someone was using a fake Instagram account posing as her.
Soon after the FIR was launched, the police arrested 21 year old Abhishek Davade who works for a website called followerskart.com. The website allegedly sold fake followers and likes to people with the help of bot with taking some fee. Davade alone had helped 176 accounts get around 5 lakh followers including accounts of those 18 celebrities who are now being questioned by the police. Police also found out three bank accounts on his name with transactions of around 9 lakh rupees in just 6 months.
The Police also said that there are atleast 100 such types of websites in India and around 54 have been identified by the Crime branch. The CBI officials have also talked with Social Media Platforms to curb this fraud.
