Lionel Messi looks in disbelief as Bayern became the first team to score 8 goals in a knockout match in European Competition

Oh Boy where to start on this one. Before the match everyone knew this is not the Prime FC Barcelona and are struggling for form and Bayern Munchen are just destroying anyone that comes in their path but it would get this bad? Nobody would have expected that.

As the two heavyweights of European Football met on Friday, sharing 10 UCL titles between them(5 each) fans would have expected a much close afar than this one. It is safe to say nobody predicted what will happen next.

Bayern Munchen started the game where the left against Chelsea and took the lead inside the 4th minute through Thomas Muller. Though Barcelona equalised immediately in the 7th minute when Messi's cross was turned in for an own goal by David Alaba.

Barcleona perhaps had the best chance of the match in the next 5 minutes as Neuer saved one attempt and one hitted the post. A devastating 9 minute spell saw Barcelona concede 3 more through a Rocket Strike from Perisic, a little bit of brillance from Gnabry and Thomas Muller to make it 4-1 inside Half and Hour. Robert Lewandowski was yet to score in the first half and that was the most surprising thing.

Luis Suarez scored in the 57th minute to make the scoreline a little respectable 4-2 but Bayern were not finished there. Joshua Kimmich joined the scoring, but the credit to that goal should go to Alphonso Davies whose splendid Run made it easier for Kimmich to make it 5-2 at the 63rd minute.

Robert Lewandowski had a goal disallowed earlier in the second half but finally got his goal in the 82nd minute to make it 6-2. You think Bayern would have finished there but no, they went on to Bring Loanee Phil Coutinho against his Parent Club who assisted Lewandowski for his goal and went on to add 2 to his name as well in the 85th and 89th minute to extraordinarily make it 8-2 for Bayern Munchen.

Bayern have not only beaten Barcelona but have made a statement that they are once again the major force they used to be and are the heavy favourites to win the Competition. They will face the winners of the matchup between Manchester City vs Lyon.
