| Huge Traffic Jam has occurred due to the landslide |
With the continuation of rainfall all over the city of Mumbai, the effects of it has been clearly seen. Water-logging, power cut, network issue, trains delayed and much, but some areas suffered huge damage. The Malabar Hill near Hanging Gardens saw a huge Landslide, which destroyed four water supply pipelines including Tardeo, Cumballa Hill, Pedder Road,Sofia Lane, Altmount Road and Carmichael Road.
There are said to be no casualties due to the landslide, however the BMC has said that it will take around a week to restore the traffic on N-S Patkar Road.
A huge portion of a wall connecting Hanging Garden to Kemps Corner collapsed on Wednesday late night. Around 40-50 trees have fallen down due to the landslide. "In four hours, the South Mumbai received about 300mm rainfall. This was way much higher than rain received on July 26,2005" said Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal.
The Civic body has arranged for 30 water tankers to supply water in areas affected due to water pipeline damaged due to Landslide.
