| Adams 88th winner made sure Leipzig will place the Semi Finals |
Just a day after, Atalanta B.C fairy tale run had stopped, it was time for the other debutants Leipzig to shock the world and continue thier own fairy tale. Considered by many as the dark horses of the Competition, Leipzig came into the match after a disappointing end of the league season where the finished 3rd, 16 points behind Champions Bayern.
On the other hand Atletico Madrid came into strong form as they were unbeaten since the restart winning 7 and drawing 4 of their 11 games in La Liga. They knocked out last season's winner Liverpool 4-2 on aggregate after winning 3-2 at Anfield in Extra time. Likewise Leipzig had beaten last season's runners up Tottenham Hotspurs 4-0 on aggregate but where now without Timo Werner who had left for Chelsea.
The first half failed to produce any serious highlight. It was the second half which sparked the match. 5 minutes into the second half and RB Leipzig took a surprise lead through Daniel Olmo as he headed his header past Jan Oblak in the far bottom corner.
With the mini tournament being held in Lisbon due to the pandemic, Diego Simone brought out from Benfica striker, the Portuguese international Joao Felix in the 58th minute to add some firepower to the attack. He had a instant response as he won a penalty in the 70th penalty and convert it himself to level the score at 1-1.
As seen yesterday in the UEFA Champions League, it is never done until it's done and Atletico know all about it(Shades of the 2014 Final against City Rivals Real Madrid), RB Leipzig took the lead again through Tyler Adams whose deflected shot went in and snatched a surprising win for RB Leipzig as they reach the Semis in their first attempt.
They will now face PSG in the Semis and who knows might go all the way to lift the title? FC Porto did it in 2004. So maybe they can
