August 6 is a date which no Japanese Person can ever forget. Today marks the 75th Anniversary of the events that occured in the City Of Hiroshima on the morning of 6th August,1945.
On that day, The United States become the first and so far the only nation to use atomic weapons during a war, when they dropped two bombs first on 6th August 1945 at Hiroshima and 3 days later on 9th August 1945 at Nagasaki. The two bombings have said to have killed around 120,000-230,000 people. What followed that day will be remembered forever in the books of History.
In the final year of World War II, the "Allies" produced two types of Atomic Bombs in August 1945 after Japan had ingnored the call of the "Allies" of unconditional surrender and end the war. The Allies then decided to use those bombs on four Japanese Cities i.e Hiroshima, Nagasaki,Kyoto and Tokyo.
On August 6,1945 Boeing B-29 Superfortress dropped the bomb codenamed "Little Boy" on Hiroshima. As soon as they hitted the ground mass mass destruction followed. Around 90,000 to 146,000 were killed by the bombings on Hiroshima.
Despite this attempt by the Allies, Japan stood tall in their motive to not to surrender. What followed next was another huge destruction. 3 days later, when the people still had not recovered from the shock of what happened, another bomb codenamed "Fat Man" was dropped on Nagasaki. The destruction took around 40,000-80,000 lives. Half of the deaths in both cities took on the first day.
In Hiroshima when the bomb hitted the ground, a bright flash light was seen followed by a loud boom sound. Around 30% of Hiroshima were killed at the time when it stuck the ground. Originally scheduled to be attacked on 11 August, the events on Nagasaki was pushed 2 days back for 9th August.
Although the bomb was said to be more powerful than the one in Hiroshima, the effects of attack on Nagasaki was less than expected. Around 40,000-80,000 lost their lives in Nagasaki.
Japan Emperor Hirohito surrendered on August 15,1945 signalling the end of the war and was officially signed on 2nd September,1945. In the decades after this incident, The US had threatened to use Nuclear Weapons many times.
