Asha Bhosle was born on 8th September, 1933. She is an Indian Playback Singer. Asha Tai started singing at the age of 10 since her father died, to reduce the responsibilities of elder sister Lata Mangeshkar.

At the time when Lata Mangeshkar was spreading the magic of her melodious voice over the country, her sister Asha Bhosle made a different position for herself due to her 'soprano voice range' and mischievous voice quality. While everyone wanted to be Lata, Asha had taught people the meaning of versatility by singing Bollywood cabaret and peppy songs, pop, ghazals, bhajans, traditional Indian classical music, folk songs, qawwalis, and Rabindra Sangeets. Apart from Hindi, she has sung in over 20 Indian and foreign languages.

The Government of India honoured her with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000; In 2006, Asha Bhosle stated that she had sung over 12,000 songs. She was awarded with Padma Vibhushan in 2008. In 2011, she was officially acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most recorded artist in music history. In 2013, she made her debut as an actress in the film Mai, and received critical acclaim for her performance.
Personal Life
Asha Bhosle who was just 16 years old fell in love with Lata Mangeshkar's secretary Ganpatrao Bhosle aged 31.
The family members were not ready for Asha and Ganpatrao's marriage . After which Asha Tai and Ganpatrao ran away and got married. But the marriage of both did not last long.
In an interview, Asha Bhosle had said that Ganpatrao's family did not accept their marriage. An assault was also tried upon her, after which she left Ganpatrao's house and never returned. When Asha Tai was back home, she was pregnant.

After this Asha Bhosle fell in love once again. Asha Tai met RD Burman during the film 'Teesri Manzil'. Both of them sang many songs together. Pancham da and Asha Tai got married in 1980. But this marriage did not last long either. After 14 years of marriage, Pancham da passed away.
