Given The Status of Historic Building, Pak Govt. To Buy Ancestral Houses of Legend Dilip Kumar & Raj Kapoor.

The provincial Sarāk of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan has decided to buy the ancestral home of legendary Bollywood actors Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar.
After purchasing it, he will convert it into a historic building and preserve it. This house is in a very shabby condition and it is in danger of falling.

The Archaeological Department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province said that it will give enough funds to buy these two buildings and it has been given the status of National Heritage and the house is located in the middle of the city of Peshawar.
Dr. Abdus Samad Khan of the Department of Archeology said that an official letter has been sent to the Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar to determine the cost of both the historic buildings, where the two Super Legends of Indian cinema were born before partition and grew up in their early days.

These houses were built in 1918 and 1922

Raj Kapoor's ancestral home, known as Kapoor Haveli, is located in Kissa Khwani Bazaar. It was made between 1918 and 1922 by Dewan Basheshwanath Kapoor, the grandfather of the famous actor. Raj Kapoor and his uncle Trilok Kapoor were born in this house. It has been declared a national heritage by the provincial government.

100 years old ancestral home of Dilip Kumar

The 100-year-old ancestral house of veteran actor Dilip Kumar is also located in the same area. The house is dilapidated and in 2014 the then Chief Minister Nawaz Sharif's government declared it a national heritage.

200 crore demand for Kapoor Haveli

Samad Khan says that the owners of both the buildings made several attempts to demolish these buildings for the construction of commercial plazas but all such steps were stopped. The Department of Integrity wanted to preserve the buildings keeping in view the historical importance of the buildings.

However, the owner of Kapoor Haveli says that he does not want to demolish the building and has approached the antiquities department to preserve it. Apart from this, the owner has demanded Rs 200 crore for this mansion from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
