Under the Balasaheb Thackeray Accidental Insurance Scheme an accident victim will be provided timely treatments to victims that could help reduce the fatality rate.
In this scheme, the victim will be provided treatment in nearby hospitals in the first 72 hours of the incident.Treatment of Around Rs 30,000 will be provided free from around 74 treatment procedures including treatment in the ICU's, fractures,meals in the hospital etc.
The statement added that any person of any State or Country can apply for this treatment if he or she meets in a road accident in Maharashtra.
According to sources around 40,000 people get injured and around 14,000 people die due to accidents that takes places on the rural and urban roads of Maharashtra.The CMO said that many victims of these type of road accident can be saved if they get the treatment in the critical hour.
According to Officals, this scheme will cost around Rs 120 Crore which will be given by the Health Department to the State Health Assurance Society. Notably this insurance scheme will not cover accidents such as Rail or Industrial accidents or daily work or home accidents.
It is said that a dedicated toll free number will soon be launched for people to Register complaints regarding the scheme.
