Game 5 of The IPL,saw Mumbai Indians beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 Runs as they registered their first win of this season. Kolkata won the toss and decided to field first as seen so far in this IPL. At the end it turned out to be a pretty comfortable win for Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai lost Quinton De Kock quickly. Captain Rohit Sharma and SuryaKumar Yadav made a great start though and added a 90 run partnership. Yadav was runned out at the score of 98/1 with him adding 47 runs off 28 balls with 6 fours and 1 six.
MI Skipper Rohit Sharma scored 80 Runs of 54 balls with 3 fours and 6 sixes. Debutant S Mavi was brilliant for KKR In the bowling department as he got the wickets of De Kock and Rohit Sharma.
A short innings by Hardik Pandya before he was judged hit wicket out as he tried to close his bat down. Pollard was not able to make much a difference as Mumbai finished with 195/5. At one point they looked like they might score 210-215 something.
KKR needed a quick start from their openers but they never got one as they were reduced to 25/2 within just 5 overs. By the time hard hitters like Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell joined the frey the game had run away from KKR. Both didn't manage to score big anyway.
Pat Cummins was brought for Rs 16 Crore by Kolkata Knight Riders. He gave up 49 Runs in his 3 overs of bowling with an economy of 16.33. He did manage to get some revenge back with the bat as he scored 33 Runs of 12 balls with 1 four and 4 sixes with a strike rate of 275. Wow. If it wasn't for him then KKR might have not finished with a score of 146/9 as they lost the match by 49 Runs.
