The Metropolitan City, the Financial Captial of India,Mumbai seems to have got a little control over COVID-19 as the growth rate keeps on declining since the past 2 months.
The growth rate of Mumbai in August was of 27.5 percent significantly less compared to June and July which had a growth rate of 95.6 and 47 percent respectively.
Even the numbers of cases have been lower than expected. June had 37,972 while July recorded 36,626 and August Recorded 31,521 in the city. The officials hope the number keeps on decreasing going into September.
According to the records of BMC, monthly test of COVID-19 has increased in Mumbai. In June around 1.32 lakh test took place . In July 2.03 lakh test took place whereas in August around 2.25 lakh test were performed.
The positivity rate has also declined in recent months. June had a 18.6 and July has 17.9 percent positivity rate. Though August saw a big decline with 13.4 percent. This means that more people have already been exposed to the virus and a small population is now getting infected.
So far Mumbai has accounted 1.48 lakh cases out of which around 1.19 have recovered from the deadly virus. Around 7,724 have lost their lives and active cases in the city are near 20,000.
