Atlanta Braves beat Los Angeles Dodgers in the first game of the NLCS

 


The First game of the National League Championship Series saw the Atlanta Braves beat Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 to take a 1-0 lead in the best of 7 series. This game also made importance in other ways as it was the first game to have fans in this short pandemic season.

Around 10,500 fans were said to have been attended the game as things slowly started to look going back to the normal. The Major League Baseball (MLB) announced that similar setting will be done for the first neutral World Series that will start from October 20.

The two teams have been in a hot form this post season having a record of 5-0 each. The Dodgers gave start to Walker Buehler.

His 5th pitch of the game was sent out in the souvenir city by Freddie Freeman who hitted his first home run of the season to give Braves 1-0 lead. He was then backed out by Starting Pitcher Max Fried who got 3 Strikeouts to end the first innings.

The Dodgers levelled it up at 1-1 when Kike Hernandez slammed home a solo home run in the bottom of the 5th innings. Both teams failed to add on more runs till the the 9th innings as the pitchers from both sides kept their teams in the game.

Going in the top of the 9th innings both teams had four hits and 1 run each which showed why both of them are heavy favourites to win this year's competition.

The Top of the 9th innings is when the game turned on. Austin Riley's solo home run out the Atlanta Braves on top of the game. His Home run was followed by a double from Ronald Acuna Jr and then a single by Marcell Ozuna which drove in Acuna Jr to make it 3-1 for the Braves. Ozzie Albies then fired a 2 run home run to give the Braves a 5-1 lead.

Dodgers were unable to answer back with any hits and lost the game. After a great regular season, the Dodgers would be hoping to go all the way this team after losing the World Series in 2017 and 2018 against the Houston Astros(4-3) and Boston Red Sox(4-1).
