Tampa Bay Rays survive a 9th inning scare from Astros to lead the series 2-0

 

Jose Altuve's throwing errors indirectly cost the games for the Astros

The Second Game of American League Championship Series (ALCS) saw the Tampa Bay Rays beat Houston Astros 4-2 to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

36 year old former World Series Winner with the Astros in 2017, Charlie Morton started the game for Rays. He had a good game as he threw 5 shout-out innings. The Rays made a strong start in the first innings thanks to throwing errors of Jose Altuve.

He mistake throw in the first inning allowed the innings to continue which would then lead directly to a 3 Run Home Run from Manuel Margot. He had another throwing mistake in the 3rd innings which signalled the low confidence of the entire team.

After getting nine hits and only one run in Game 1, the Astros finally scored again after 13 scoreless innings when Carlos Correa slammed a solo home run to make it 3-1.

Mike Zunino was the hero of Game 1 as he droved in the precious run which was enough for the Rays to win the first game. This time he swinged on and hit a solo run in the bottom of the 7th inning to make 4-1 for the Rays.

The Astros finally started to get hits and gave the Rays a scare in the top of the 9th innings when the loaded the bases twice with three straight singles but were able to score only 1 run as the Rays escaped the game and holded on to the lead and win the game.
