Tampa Bay Rays advance to the World Series

 

Scenes after Arozarena's Home Run

The Game 7 of the American League Championship Series ALCS saw The Tampa Bay Rays beat Houston Astros by a score of 4-2 to win the series 4-3 and advance to the World Series.

Having won the first three games, The Rays were facing a major dramatical collapse after the blew a 3-0 lead to make it 3-3.The Astros on the other hand were looking to make it back to back World Series appearances when they lost 4-3 to Washington Nationals in 2019.

After a scoreless top of 1st innings, The Rays took the lead in the bottom of the the 1st inning when Randy Arozarena slammed a 2 run home to make it 2-0 for the Rays. This was his 7th Home Run of the postseason and made history as he became the rookie with the most home runs in a postseason.

The Rays extended their lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning through a solo home run by Mike Zunino. Charlie Morton the starting pitcher for the Rays threw a 6 scoreless innings game as the Astros could even get near the 2nd base.

After 7 scoreless innings for the Astros, they scored in the top of the 8th innings on a bases loaded 2 Run RBI single from Carlos Correa. With the scores now at 4-2 in favour of Rays, the Astros came out to bat in the top of the 9th innings.

Two strikeouts and a fly out saw a scoreless 9th inning for the Astros ending their Campaign as the Rays became the American League Champions. They will either face Atlanta Braves or Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series starting from October 20,2020.
