On Thursday, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had detained Indian Cricketer Krunal Pandya at the Mumbai Airport.
According to intelligence DRI sources Krunal Pandya and his wife were detained at Terminal 2 of the Mumbai Airport over suspicion of possessing undisclosed valuables.
DRI officers said that Pandya had not declared four expensive watches. According to Custom officers the watches cost around Rs 75 lakh. According to Customs act a person is allowed to carry an expensive for 'free allowance' if it's worth is less than 50,000 Rs.
However if a person carries an item worth more than 50,000 Rs then they have to report it to Customs in Red channel Area of arrivals and have to pay around 36% custom duty before exiting the airport.
Sources said that Krunal Pandya was carrying four watches- two Rolex and two Audemar. He said that he won two and the other two belonged to his brother Hardik after winning the Dream11 IPL.
Four Hours after detention at around 10:30pm the case was handed over to Customs department. A senior official from the customs team have said that they will be released soon.
