Maharashtra Government Considering To Suspend Mumbai-Delhi Rail And Air Services

As the Covid-19 Pandemic keeps on surging in the National Captial, The Maharashtran Government is thinking and "considering" the suspension of Mumbai-Delhi Air and Rail Services.


Delhi has seen a surge in Covid-19 post Diwali. On Thursday the City added 7,546 fresh new cases raising panic among the citizens. Mumbai which not so long ago stood as the centre of pandemic Currently has 11,694 active cases compared to Delhi's 44,500 cases. Sources have said that Maharashtra' CM Uddhav Thackeray is said to have told authorities to "act fast" to contain fresh wave of infection.

Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar has confirmed that the move of suspending Mumbai-Delhi Air and Rail Services is under discussion. "It is under discussion at this stage. But is yet to be finalised. No proposal has been readied so far" Kumar said.

On Friday Maharashtra also saw a jump in the number of cases with more than 5,500 cases recorded in a day, a 15 day high with cases in Mumbai also crossing more than 900 for the first time over a fortnight. 

Kumar also said that the government is ready to make several more moves to contain the widespread of the virus. "We are much more prepared this time. But we are taking no chances" he said while also adding that the government's Community campaign "Majhe Kutumb Majhi Jajbabdari (My Family,My Responsibility) will be intensified in the upcoming days.
