During a meeting of Cabinet Ministers on Wednesday, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani made the announcement to reopen schools and colleges for secondary, postgraduate, Medical and paramedical students and final year students of undergraduate courses across the state from November 23,2020.
Education Minister Bhupendrasingh Chudasama announced after the meeting that final year Engineering Courses, Polytechnic and ITI courses as well. To avoid overcrowding in schools and colleges, the government has laid out the odd-even formula where Classes 9 and Classes 11 will operate on three days and Classes 10 and Classes 12 on other three days.
This decision is applicable to all schools around the state including government and self financed. Currently the state has seen a 21 day Diwali Vacation from October 29 and there are no online lectures till November 18.
However the state government has also announced that Online Classes will continue to take place as it is not necessary to send students to schools. If a parent wishes to send their child to school, then they will have to send a writing application first.
No schools will be opened in Containment Zones. At schools students will be regularly checked and any students found having any symptoms of Covid-19 will be reported. Students have been advised to bring their own tiffins and water bottles, wearing of face mask is compulsory and no assembly and sports period will take place so as to keep social distancing.
