Mumbai Police Arrests 2 For Selling Duplicate Jeans and T-Shirts Worth Rs 21 Lakh

 


The Crime Branch of Mumbai have arrested two people yesterday for allegedly selling Duplicate Jeans and T-Shirts of branded companies. They both are said to have been owners of a manufacturing unit.

To get more profit, the duo started a YouTube Channel, made a WhatsApp group for potential buyers and created Facebook and Instagram account for advertising the garments.

While Interrogation, the duo who were identified as Rahim Shaikh(34) and Hasaratali Chaudhary(38) said that the demand of online shopping was all time high during lockdown which gave them the idea to expand their business in this way.

According to Police, they said that they recieved information about duplicate garments being manufactured in Malad and were sold Online and through their shop as well.

One of the Police officer said "We first send our man to buy some clothes.The purchased Jeans and T-Shirts had top branded labels. We called the brand representatives to our office to verify the authenticity. The representatives told as that it was not original.We then planned to raid the manufacturing unit in Kurar Area,Dindoshi."

Levi's representative Santosh Nalekar has lodged a complaint through the Kurar Police for cheating and other sections of the Copyright Act.
