Pfizer India Approaches DCGI For Emergency Usage Of Its Covid-19 Vaccine

 


The Pharmaceutical Firm Pfizer India has become the first firm in the country to approach the Drug Controller General of India(DCGI) for seeking a emergency use authorization for it's Covid-19 vaccine in the country.

As already known Pfizer India's parent company Pfizer has already got the clearance of emergency usage of its vaccine in United Kingdom and Bahrain.

According to an official source, "Pfizer India has sought permission for emergency usage authorization of it's Covid-19 vaccine from DCGI to import and market."

Pfizer India has submitted this vaccine to the DCGI on December 4 seeking the EUA for it's Vaccine. They submitted the application in form CT-18 to grant permission to import and market Pfizer BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccine.

However the extremely low condition of minus 70°© requiring to store the vaccine, remains the biggest challenge for it's delivery in India.

In a recent All Chair Meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that a Covid-19 Vaccine is expected to be ready in the next few weeks and as soon as the scientists give a green signal, the process of vaccination will start in India.

At the moment, India continues to be the 2nd Worst affected country in the world behind USA despite a recent decline in the surge of cases. The overall Covid-19 cases have reached 96,44,222 out of which 91,00,792 have recovered from this disease. The active number of cases is now near the 4 lakh mark with 4,03,248 active cases. Yesterday's death toll of 482 increased the number of fatalities to 1,40,182.
