UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson To Be The Chief Guest on Republic Day

 

United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson is all set to travel to India in January 2021 and be the Chief Guest on Republic Day after accepting an invite and has invited India to join the UK's G7 summit next year.

He will be the second UK Prime Minister to visit India on Republic Day after John Major in 1993. This visit will help India and UK to develop and strength strategic relationship between them which also includes jobs and investment across the UK.

An official Spokesperson form the UK has said this trip will kick off a significant year for "Global Britian" when UK will host both the G7s meeting and COP26 summits and an event to mark the first UN General Assembly in London since 1946.

Johnson has also written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accept his invitation to attend the UK's G7 summit as one of the three guest alongside South Korea and Australia.

 There are 842 Indian companies in the UK with a combined turnover of £42.1 billion creating jobs in all 4 corners of the United Kingdom.

Speaking ahead of this trip Johnson said "I am absolutely delighted to be visiting India next year at the start of an exciting year for Global Britian and look forward to delivering the quantum leap in our bilateral relationship that Prime Minister Modi and I have pledged to achieve."
